Appalachia Blues was built off necessity. I began making hats while working on a conservation crew in the Allegheny National Forest. I would wear hats to protect me from the elements. Soon I realized I could manipulate the way hats could look using steam. The hat I initially brought into the woods came back to the city with a new look. I was blown away by the diverse response of people’s compliments, and was asked numerous times if I would sell my hat. I never thought I’d make hats for other people. Over the past 5 years I have done a massive amount of research as well as trial and error, teaching myself how to make hats that I could never find in stores, and a product of quality that I am proud of. I aim to make an extremely well built hat completely by hand that should be functional for generations to come. I have traveled all across the country to find the highest quality material possible. I will never mass produce these products. All hats are made entirely by hand without assistance from machines. Thank you for all and any support.
